What is the Australian Shepherd like?
Despite their name, the Australian Shepherd was developed in the United States as a herding dog for western ranches. They are one of the most intelligent, athletic, and versatile of all herding breeds β medium-sized dogs with a striking merle or tricolour coat, natural or docked tail, and the intense focus of a born working dog. Aussies are energetic, eager to please, and highly trainable β they excel at agility, obedience, frisbee, and virtually any dog sport. They are devoted to their families and thrive when given a job to do. They are not suited to inactive households.
