The Dandie Dinmont Terrier is one of Scotland’s most distinctive and charming breeds, taking their name from a character in Sir Walter Scott’s 1815 novel Guy Mannering. With their long body, large domed head, and distinctive topknot of silky hair, they have an immediately recognisable appearance unlike any other terrier. Developed in the Scottish Borders to hunt otter and badger, Dandies are intelligent, determined, and surprisingly independent for a small dog.
