The Glen of Imaal Terrier is Ireland’s quietest terrier β a sturdy, low-slung, rough-coated working terrier from the isolated Glen of Imaal in County Wicklow, where they were used to hunt badger and fox. Unlike their more boisterous terrier cousins, Glens are notably calmer and less vocal, yet they retain every ounce of the terrier’s courage and determination. They are loyal, affectionate, and somewhat stubborn dogs β devoted to their family and characterful in their quiet, determined way. They are one of the rarer terrier breeds in the UK and a genuine working dog beneath their rough, tousled exterior.

Professional grooming every eight to ten weeks for a bath, light tidy, nail clip, and ear clean is recommended. They are low to moderate shedders. Their ears should be checked regularly.
