What is the Norwich Terrier like?
The Norwich Terrier is one of the smallest of the working terriers β almost identical to the Norfolk Terrier but distinguished by their upright prick ears rather than dropped ears. Developed in East Anglia for hunting rats and rabbits, the Norwich Terrier packs enormous terrier character into a very small body. They are bold, affectionate, and sociable β considered among the most outgoing and friendly of the terrier breeds while retaining the spirit, determination, and courage that defines the group.
Social Skills
Norwich Terrier with Other Dogs
Norwich Terriers are more sociable with other dogs than many terriers β their pack working heritage contributes to a more cooperative social nature. They are friendly with people and generally good with children. Their prey drive makes them unreliable with small animals. Early socialisation develops their natural sociability into well-rounded confidence.
Grooming Guide
How to Groom a Norwich Terrier
The Norwich Terrier’s rough, harsh coat requires brushing two to three times weekly. Their outer coat should be hand stripped twice yearly to maintain correct harsh texture. Professional grooming every eight to ten weeks for a bath, hand strip or tidy, nail clip, and ear clean. Their upright ears should be checked regularly.
